Flood Warnings At Briggswath and Scalby

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning as the River Esk goes above three metres in the Briggswath area.

The Agency said:

'The high river levels are due to persistent rain through Saturday and overnight into Sunday morning. We are monitoring the situation and will update this message as the situation changes. '

Levels are expected to lower through the day.

 

Meanwhile the authority have also issued an alert as the River Derwent rises around The Seat Cut in Scalby.

They advised:

'Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid driving through any floodwater. We are monitoring the situation closely and will update this message in 8 hours or as the situation changes.'
