Scarborough RNLI Treasurer Awarded

Published by Jon Burke at 3:32pm 31st October 2019.

The treasurer of Scarborough Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has been recognised by AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) for his voluntary work in the community.

Ian Bennett, who joined AAT the year it was founded in 1981, was presented with the 2018 Past President’s Award by immediate past President Vernon Anderson, at an event held at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The AAT Past President’s Award was inaugurated in 1994, and is awarded to AAT members who make an exceptional contribution to AAT’s development or bring credit to AAT by their service or example. The theme for the 2018 award was ‘giving something back through voluntary activity’.

Vernon Anderson said:

“This year’s theme underpins AAT’s commitment to the wider responsible business agenda, and afforded the panel the opportunity to recognise the unsung contributions that our members make. We know there are many members who give up their valuable time, volunteering to support local communities up and down the country, and I would like to thank them all.

Ian has been able to utilise his experience to ensure the accuracy of the accounts figures he produces for Scarborough RNLI. As well as producing the accounts, Ian helps out in other ways, such as dealing with the collection boxes and processing donations.”
