Huge Poppy Appears in Scarborough

Huge Poppy Appears in Scarborough

Published by Matthew Pells at 4:45pm 30th October 2019.

Staff at a Scarborough window company are honoring members of the Armed Forces community by designing and manufacturing their very own poppy out of PVCu, panel and paint.

The team at SWC Trade Frames took time out of their working day to create the giant poppy which is now proudly displayed on their building.

The project has been led by Senior Production Manager Peter Hill, an ex-Warrant Officer who served in the RAF for over thirty two years.

Managing Director Rhys Richings said:

"We employ a number of Military Veterans and believe their work ethic, loyalty, integrity and flexibility go hand in hand with our company’s own core values.

Peter, along with some of our Production Team, have done an absolutely brilliant job and we are so proud to be doing our part to help raise awareness and help ensure people remember those who have died in the line of duty.

The poppy is made out of the PVCu profile we use to fabricate our windows, filled with glazing panel & painted by our in-house paint sprayer.

The Poppy is symbolic of Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, so this is our way of raising awareness, catching the eye of anybody driving past our factory in Scarborough & pricking their conscience so to speak.

We're really pleased with the end result."

The company say they will be finishing off the project with a donation to the Royal British Legion.
