Lifelong Scarborough Resident Is 107 Today

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 6:17am 30th October 2019.

A Scarborough woman is celebrating her 107th Birthday today.

Irene Green, who now lives at Dulverton House on Granville Square, South Cliff, is celebrating her special day with a party.

Born in 1912, months after Titanic sank and the same year Scott reached the South Pole, Irene says she feels great:

"I feel as fit as a fiddle. I've always had plenty of exercise and good food. I like meat. I like to go out. There are lovely gardens here".

Born on Park Avenue in Scarborough, she has memories of her father fighting in the war and shooting Game and of hiding under the stairs with her mother during air raids.

Her favourite lifetime hobbies have included reading, swimming and walking.

Yorkshire Coast Radio wishes Irene a very happy 107th Birthday!
