A Building Society in Scarborough is holding events to help teach financial education to children over the  half term holidays.

The Yorkshire Building Society on Westborough, will be holding the Money Minds sessions which are aimed at 5 to 11 year olds

Maxine Hartley, is the branch manager...

The branch, on Westborough, will be hosting the events on Monday 28 October between 2pm and 3pm, Tuesday 29 October between 10am and 11am and Wednesday 30 October between 2pm and 3pm. Visitors are invited to drop-in any time between these times on those days.

Children at the events will be able to participate in the Society's Money Minds sessions delivered by branch staff and suitable for 5 to 11 years old with balloon and sweet giveaways.  The idea of the event is to encourage older generations in families to pass on healthy financial habits to children and build financial resilience in the UK.

Maxine Hartley, branch manager at Yorkshire Building Society in Scarborough, said:

"We know holidays can be an expensive time for families so we wanted to offer some fun and free activities for children in Scarborough. Learning how to effectively manage finances is a vital life skill. We really want to engage children, parents and grandparents in the area to help them start conversations about money and pass on their knowledge. These sessions will enable them to test and expand their vocabulary and understanding of money through our activities.

We're committed to supporting our communities in teaching financial education and through our Money Minds programme we are helping to improve financial capability in the UK."
