Gig buddies are needed in Bridlington to help people with a learning disability get out to night time activities.

The scheme is being supported by the charity MENCAP. The idea is to match people with a learning disability with a volunteer who has a shared interest.

Trent Cannon explains more..

Trent says the scheme has massive benefits for the people involved.

The Gig Buddies scheme matches people with a learning disability with a volunteer, based on a common interest or shared love for similar activities like live music, going to the theatre or socialising at a local pub quiz.

The Gig Buddy volunteers are asked to commit to a half day of induction training and meet up with their buddy twice a month for one year.

Volunteers need to be willing to travel to different venues to enjoy nightlife events with their buddy, there will also be the option to attend group social events organised by the Gig Buddies Coordinator .

Organisers say volunteers will be provided with relevant training and that agreed out-of-pocket expenses to be reimbursed.

There are more details about the Gig Buddies roles in Bridlington on the MENCAP Website.
