Scarborough will be the host town for the nation's Armed Forces Day next June - and preparations for the event are already underway.

One project aims to bring to life the experiences of Armed Forces personnel though films and giant sculptures.

It is being run by Animated Objects Theatre Company.

Dawn Dyson-Threadgold, who is from there, said:

"We're looking for veterans to work with us; we are doing a project with secondary school children and veterans in a letter-writing project.

So if there are any ex-serving personnel across the Borough that would like to get in involved, we'd love to hear from them. We're looking for a wide range of people."

Lee Threadgold, who is also from there, said:

"Of course each one of those serving has a story to tell and has a very personal journey that they've been on.

What we're doing is a number of different types of activity to explore their lives and what's gone into their life in service.

So we'll be producing a sculpture trail across the town for the national event and we're also going to be making a series of short films; we're going to be doing some work on those over half term."
