Bridlington Coffee Morning To Welcome All With Anxiety

Bridlington Coffee Morning To Welcome All With Anxiety

Bridlington residents who have anxiety are being asked to join a support group.

It is for anyone of all ages who also feel stress and isolation to meet others who are going through the same thing.

Kate Batten and her partner originally set up a coffee morning for mums in Bridlington only back in May.

Since then, people have been getting in touch with them asking if they could join, despite not being a parent.

Kate said:

"Anxiety is a huge factor right now, and so is loneliness.

We're not talking about older people of the older generation, we're talking about young people as well who feel isolated away from their families.

Loneliness is a huge thing and so is anxiety and mental health issues, so it's something we needed to open up on a wider spectrum."

Kate added the feedback has been great:

"They have been able open up about how their day is; talk about the situations that they're in, feel like they're comfortable in a community and not judged.

So if they want to talk about having anxiety, or when they last had a panic attack, and exactly what they're going through each and every day, they have the opportunity to be listened to by the group."

The coffee morning will be at The Attic Cafe on Prospect Street in Bridlington every fortnight on a Thursday - starting tomorrow (Thursday 17th October) - from 9.45am 'til 11.30am.
