Quay Academy Bridlington Mark National Poetry Day

 Quay Academy in Bridlington is marking National Poetry Day today by learning and performing poetry. And we paid the school a visit to see and hear the results!

Teacher Jade Dolan explains why the school feel it's important for the children to learn and perform poems:

"It really helps them with their speaking and listening. From a young age we do talk for writing in our English and it means that children are performing from a young age with their voice. They are learning stories from the text maps and learn actions to go with it. It really develops their vocabulary and it develops their writing so when they get to Year 6, they've got so much vocabulary to use in any piece of writing".
