Healthcare Hackathon in Bridlington

Healthcare Hackathon in Bridlington

Published by Matthew Pells at 1:00pm 1st October 2019.

A Tech Challenge event in Bridlington today will see participants developing yet to be imagined technology solutions to support people living with dementia and their carers.

The NHS are looking for ways to bring technology into homes to aid better care and support for vulnerable residents and patients.

The Humber Care Tech Challenge is an exciting opportunity for participants to develop yet to be imagined technology solutions which will help to make the home a safe and proactive part of health and social care.

The winning teams will also receive support from mentors at Amazon, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the University of Hull to help turn their ideas into real products and make a difference in the Humber region and beyond.

The event is a 2-day hackathon to come up with ideas to help the NHS and residents in their home using technology. On the first day of the challenge teams will focus on developing their concept and on the second day they will begin building their prototypes.

The competition is open to everyone – beginner or veteran developers, designers and entrepreneurs, students and businesses.

A bespoke support package will be provided to the winning team consisting of a mentoring service led by Amazon Web Services (AWS), and supported by the University of Hull, the four regional NHS CCGs (Clinical Commissioning Groups), C4Di and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, that will enable feasible ideas to be turned into a real life solution that can be put to market.  Depending on the winning team’s circumstances, there may also be an opportunity to help the teams bid for external funding.
