Floods For Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington

Floods For Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington

Published by Matthew Pells at 1:35pm 30th September 2019. (Updated at 8:29am 1st October 2019)

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the North Sea coast from Staithes to Bridlington.

They say flooding is possible for the coast at Staithes, Whitby Harbour and Bridlington and that overtopping of roads and low-lying coastal areas is possible as a result of high spring tides.

Already Royal Albert Drive, in Scarborough, is closed due to overtopping.

Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible early on Tuesday.  Flooding is most likely at high tide, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide.  Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads.
