Published by Matthew Pells at 1:25pm 30th September 2019. (Updated at 7:40am 1st October 2019)

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for the North Sea coast at Bridlington, affecting Harbour Road, Floral Pavilion, South Pier, Chicken Run Jetty, and adjacent car parks off South Cliff Road.

Flooding is expected for: The north side of the dock area, properties on Harbour Road and the Floral Pavilion. Overtopping is expected to affect sea front areas as a result of high spring tides between 5.00pm and 6.30pm on Monday 30th September, and 5.00am and 6.45am on Tuesday 1st October.  Areas most at risk are properties at Harbour Road and Floral Pavilion.

The agency say...

"Coastal conditions are expected to continue this week and we are closely monitoring the situation.  Our incident response staff are checking defences and will operate them as required.

Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads and coastal roads, which may be flooded."

A lower level flood alerts has been issued for The North Sea coast from Bridlington to Barmston.

Overtopping of roads and low-lying coastal areas is possible as a result of high spring tides.  Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible between 5.00pm and 6.30pm on Monday 30th September, and 5.00am and 6.45am on Tuesday 1st October.  Flooding is most likely at high tide, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads.
