Gold Cup Event Returns to Scarborough's Oliver's Mount

Published by Matthew Pells at 6:01am 27th September 2019.

The motorbikes are back at Oliver's Mount this weekend for the Gold Cup Event.

It's the first time the Gold Cup has taken place since the 2017 event was abandoned following two accidents.

Mick Grant from Oliver's Mount Racing says the backing of the council and the efforts of volunteers has helped them make improvements to the track since then.

Mick says the upgrade works have greatly improved the circuit whilst retaining it's unique features.

Oliver’s Mount has been at the heart of motorcycle racing for more than 70 years with the circuit hosting its first race in 1946.

After a years gap racing returned to the circuit in June after Scarborough Borough Council grante a lease to GrantRoberts Ltd to operate at Oliver’s Mount as Two Four Three Road Racing Association.

The company brings a wealth of experience in the sport to Scarborough, including former Grand Prix and Isle Of Man TT racer and supplier of Pirelli tyres to the British Superbike grid, Eddie Roberts, and seven times Isle of Man TT winner and multiple winner at Oliver’s Mount, Mick Grant.
