Bridlington Dementia Friends Community Meeting

Published by Jon Burke at 6:31am 27th September 2019.

Bridlington's Mallard Court Care Home is to be the first venue for the new Bridlington Dementia Friendly Community meeting, being organised by the Bridlington Community Action Group.

Anyone who's interested in making Bridlington a dementia friendly community is invited.

Taking place on the 9th October 2pm-4pm, guests will have a chance to learn a little bit more about what it's like to live with dementia and then turn that understanding into action.

It's free and open to anyone interested in discussing ways in which the group can help people in the local community suffering with dementia, or who has a family member or friend with dementia.

Bridlington Community Action Group is looking at ways to make Bridlington a more dementia friendly town.

On the day, guest will have a chance to meet the group and guests to discuss ways to support people with dementia.

Refreshments will be available at the meeting

General Manager, Dianne Peters, said:

"We're really looking forward to making more Dementia Friend's in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening and the more understanding we have the better.

Our team here at Mallard Court is always available to provide support and advice about care to anyone who needs it. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea, our doors are always open".
