Memorial to Bridlington School War Veterans

Memorial to Bridlington School War Veterans

Published by Jon Burke at 7:01am 26th September 2019.

There's a special project at Bridlington School, aimed at preserving the memory of those from the school who served in the Second World War.

The Old Bridlingtonian Club, whose members are alumni, former and serving members of staff and current pupils have arranged for the replacement of the World War Two Memorial boards next to the World War One boards at the school.

They will display the names of all former pupils and staff from the school that gave their lives in the service of their country in the Armed Forces and Mercantile Marine in war.

The new board will include space for those that have given their lives since WW2, in conflicts and on exercise - and already they have three names to add.

The official unveiling and dedication of the board will be during the annual reunion weekend held over the 6/7 and 8th of December 2019.

Any relatives of the fallen, listed as below, are being invited to witness the unveiling, so they can see the School and Old Bridlingtonian Club has not forgotten the sacrifice of former pupils and staff.

If anyone knows of other former pupils of the School that have died in service , post WW2,  their names can be added as well.

The original WW2 boards were lost in the fire at Emmanuel Church in the 1980s.
