Scarborough A&E Warns of Long Waits

Scarborough A&E Warns of Long Waits

Published by Matthew Pells at 1:27pm 24th September 2019.

Scarborough Hospital says its A&E department is extremely busy today - with long waits for non urgent patients to be seen.

It's asking people to only attend the hospital if absolutely essential.

The York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust also wants people to consider calling 111 for advice - or going to their local pharmacy for non-emergency issues.

I have been to A & E a number of times in the past and sometimes i have been straight away and others had to wait for hours - longest being from 8pm to actually getting on the ward at 7am. The thing was that as in the past each time i have attended (never in an ambulance my family have taken me) i have been admitted for at least 4 days to sort out the problems so i am not a time waster. What appalled me and the member of family who was with me is the amount of time wasters, drunks and druggies up there. Not to mention it was like a family outing for some of them. You do not need more that one person with you. I just feel for the staff.
