Mental Health Stall Setup In Scarborough

Mental Health Stall Setup In Scarborough

Published by Karen Liu at 6:01am 23rd September 2019.

A Scarborough woman's set up a mental health stall in the town centre.

Sandra Wilson tried to take her own life twice in the past, before the police helped her get treatment.

Now she wants to help others by offering advice and giving information about local mental health services.

People can also sign a petition in exchange for a small gift at the stall, which she is calling 'Mental Health - Saving Lives'.

It is located in front of the Rendezvous Cafe on the corner of Northway and Westborough.

Sandra and her team are also looking for donations of any small items.

Sandra said:

"This stall is not about money; this stall is about people's lives because people's lives are at risk, every minute, every day and night.

In the winter time, I will be doing a stall in the town centre giving soups, sandwiches, clothes, bedding and stuff like that.

This one stall is for mental health and also for the homeless."

Martin Beal helps out at the stall and said:

"I have got mental health issues myself, and I'm trying to get through it to help people who's got medical issues themselves.

We are doing it so people can put their names down and get a free gift for it."

Sandra and Martin have been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Karen Liu:

The Samaritans are available 24/7 on 116 123 or visit
