Extended Opening Hours For Scarborough's Crisis Cafe

Published by Karen Liu at 6:01am 20th September 2019. (Updated at 7:14am 20th September 2019)

The opening hours of Scarborough's Crisis Cafe is being extended.

It provides support to people with mental health distress across the Borough.

Scarborough Survivors has received the funding boost from local Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The charity's Chief Officer, Andrea Woolcott, said:

"We've been given just under £60,000, which is more or less a 50% increase on what we had before.

It's allowing us to increase our opening hours from 16 over the weekend to 27, which will include two weekday nights."

She explains what else the money will go towards:

"We'll have three members of staff within the cafe, we will have volunteers and some of the money will be used in supplying taxis for vulnerable people.

We're not expecting people to walk the streets at 1am or come in at 7.30pm in the dark."

The Crisis Cafe will now be open on:-

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - 7.30pm to 1am
  • Sunday - 8pm to 1am
