Whitby Lifeboat Hero Remembered

Published by Matthew Pells at 7:59pm 14th September 2019.

The Whitby Lifeboat crew have expressed their condolences to the family of former Lifeboat man Ronnie Frampton who passed away earlier this week.

“Frammy” as he was known by his friends celebrated his 90th birthday last year. He was on the Lifeboat crew at Whitby from 1951-1975 saving over 84 lives. He has stayed in touch with the present day crew members often reminiscing about his time on the lifeboat.

Station mechanic Richard Dowson said:

‘Frammy will be greatly missed not only by his friends at the station but by the whole community, he was a great character and always a pleasure to be sat with in the Black Horse on a Friday tea time. RIP ord lad.’

The funeral will be held on Thursday 26th September, 12.30, St Hilda’s Church, Whitby.
