Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team have been involved in an operation to find two children who had got lost while walking their dogs in the North York Moors.

The children were walking in a remote area near Pickering last night.

A North Yorkshire Police drone was used in the search for the children who were located after using the "What Three Words" app on their phone to pinpoint their location.

The children were then transported home by the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team.

What3words divides the world in to 3x3 metre squares, giving each square a unique three-word address. These words could be as simple as Table. Chair. Fish.

Anyone with the app on their smartphone can then use these three words to let the emergency services know exactly where they are.

The coordinates used within what3words link through to a GPS map, providing directions to the location.

The app works offline too, so callers can find a three-word address of a location without a data connection.
