Helicopter Rescue in Cloughton

Published by Matthew Pells at 8:36am 24th August 2019. (Updated at 9:43am 24th August 2019)

A rescue helicopter was used near Cloughton last night to recover an injured fisherman.

At just before 7:30pm Scarborough and Burniston Coastguard Rescue Team, along with Filey Coastguard, the ambulance service and both Scarborough Lifeboats were called to a fisherman who had injured himself accessing a small bay in Cloughton. Due to the nature of injury and difficult terrain, Coastguard helicopter 912 was called in to assist.

The fisherman was recovered to the top of the cliff via helicopter before being transferred to a waiting ambulance.

If you see anyone in difficulty on or near the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
