Bridlington Residents Encouraged to be Happy and Well

Bridlington Residents Encouraged to be Happy and Well

Workers and residents in Bridlington now have access to a new website which aims to help them improve their wellbeing, help them to be happier and make them more productive.

HappyAndWell.me has been launched by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and covers multiple health topics including, quitting smoking, raising a new family, living with dementia and getting fit.

John Skidmore, director of health at the council, says one of the aims is to provide a resource for local businesses.

The aim of the website is to give residents, staff and businesses a place to go for all health-related information, including signposting to well-known websites, previous health-related press releases and anything council-related that involves healthy lifestyles and health and wellbeing.

John says it's about helping people find the information and resources they need.

The East Riding's public health team created the website to provide easy access to commissioned and trusted non-commissioned services, as well as the range of local community groups available in the East Riding that staff can access.

Staff can search by keyword, location, or use the Five Ways to Wellbeing categories, to find services and groups that help you be more active, take notice of your health, learn something new, connect with like-minded people or give by volunteering.

The website also supports local social prescribing efforts, where link workers help patients find nearby support groups to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing through socialising.

Local groups can use the online form to submit their details to the website, or use the contact form to request changes.
