Eastfield Church To Tighten Up Security After Vandalism

A church near Scarborough say they have to now raise funds to secure its building.

The Church of the Holy Nativity on Westway in Eastfield has been victim to vandalism and burglary earlier this week.

Its Vicar, Samantha Taylor, said:

"Our church over the last three weeks has had a vandalism every night and then on Monday evening, it was broken into.

It's come as a bit of a shock because it's never been broken into before and it hasn't had vandalism for many years.

Eastfield is a good community, so there's a real sadness about this.

We don't want our building to look like a prison, or to keep people out, we don't intend to do that.

We will tighten up security but it's certainly not going to get us down or stop us doing what we're doing.

We're trying to just remain positive and find positive ways forward."
