Students To Raise Money For Scarborough Mental Health Charity

A fundraiser today is set to benefit a Scarborough mental health charity.

Students taking part in a NCS project are holding a fun day with a bake sale, drinks and games.

It is at Scarborough Survivors on Alma Square from 10am till 4pm today (Wednesday 14th August).

Becca Marr, 16, who is one of the students from the NCS group, said:

"So many people in our group have been affected by mental health problems; we just thought no brainer, go with something that's affecting the young people's community at the moment.

We feel like emotional wellbeing is just as good and just as important as physical wellbeing."

Chief Executive Officer of Scarborough Survivors, Andrea Woolcott, explains what the money will used for:

"We're renovating our roof space in our resource centre that's going to be a young person's age appropriate space.

So focusing on supporting 16 to 25 year old people, it's just creating a much better sort of young person's ambience for that area."
