There needs to be a big change at Welcome to Yorkshire - according to the man who asked police to investigate its expenses claims.

Lord Paul Scriven has been reacting to the resignation of its Chairman Ron McMillan last week - and the revelation of more details into two independent investigations into its former Chief Executive.

Sir Gary Verity left last month - at which point the company said there were problems with his expenses and his behaviour towards staff.

Lord Scriven said:

"It would appear that the senior leadership team and the board have had an arrogance about them.

It is now clear that both with the public outcry that there's been, and with potential police investigation, still hanging over them, that the board decided to act.

If the senior leadership team doesn't change, and the culture doesn't change, then this is the end of Welcome to Yorkshire.

They're in the last chance saloon and significant changes are going to have to be made; culture, governance, financial control, openness, transparency."
