Published by Karen Liu at 8:24am 19th April 2019.

Scarborough and Burniston coastguard rescue team were called to reports of four adults and a child being cut off by the tide.

It happened late yesterday afternoon (Thursday 18th April) between the Spa and Holbeck slip.

The coastguard says they managed to rescue themselves before they arrived.

They said:

If you are going for a a walk on the beach, particularly where there are cliffs, always check the tide times before you set off.

If you see anyone in difficulty on or near the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Immediately after that incident, the team were tasked to a report of a vessel on fire in Scarborough Harbour.

It was a small fire that was dealt with by the fire service.

The cause is thought to have been because of an electrical fault.
