More Defibrillators Installed In Whitby

Published by Karen Liu at 6:04am 15th March 2019.

Whitby now has even more 24-hour access defibrillators.

There is 17 installed around the town with the help of a group that has been set up.

Three have also been set up in Ruswarp, Sleights and Staithes.

'Whitby Defibrillator Project' is made up of local residents, businesses and organisations like The Friends of Pannett Park.

One of the other organisations is Whitby District Lions Club and Christopher Roe is their President.

He said:

"We started it about July last year and the aim was by Christmas 2019 to get 10 defibrillators in Whitby town itself, and to also maintain them for the next 10 years.

We feel that in that time, technology would have move on at such a rate that it would be certainly a lot different than they are now.

We are looking at the east side of Whitby for some but we're also looking to spread out into the villages in the northern area, but not too big as whatever we put in, we have to be able to sustain them for 10 years.

So the idea is that we would work with residents and we would support them looking after their own defibrillators, that's the plan."

Here are where the defibrillators are:
