Train services on the Yorkshire Coast are back to normal after months of weekend disruption.

RMT Members for Northern Rail had been on strike for the last 24 Saturdays over the role of guards on trains.

An agreement was reached between Northern and the RMT on 6 February, but there wasn't enough time to implement a full timetable in time for last Saturday (9 February.)

It had affected Northern services between Scarborough-Filey-Bridlington and Hull, and Whitby to Middlesbrough.

A full Saturday timetable will run from today (Saturday 16 February.)

Speaking last week, David Brown, Managing Director, Northern said:

“We warmly welcome RMT’s decision to suspend its strike action and recommence talks about what the future role of the conductor looks like.

We have been very clear in these discussions that there will be a conductor on all our trains now and into the future.

We are looking forward to further positive talks with RMT about operational models moving ahead so that we can resolve their dispute and bring it to an end.

The suspension of the RMT strikes is good news for customers and businesses across the North."
