Spate of Car Break-ins in Scarborough

Police are asking Scarborough residents to check their vehicles after a spate of break-ins.

The call comes after a man was arrested in the town on Saturday night on suspicion of gaining entry to a number of vehicles in the town.

North Yorkshire Police have conducted street patrols in the area where the suspect was located to look for vehicles which have been damaged or entered. Officers found a number of vehicles with damage and some owners have been spoken to.

Police are asking residents to check their vehicles in the Trafalgar Road, Tennyson Avenue, Columbus Ravine, Dean Road area of Scarborough to ensure that they are secure and have not been entered. They are also appealing for anyone with dashcams to review their cameras between 2130 and 2245 to see if you have anything suspicious recorded.

Anyone with damage to their vehicle or with relevant footage is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 12190024803.
