Scarborough Traders React to Flamingo Land Plans

Scarborough Traders React to Flamingo Land Plans

Published by Jon Burke at 6:34am 11th February 2019.

The Chairman of Scarborough's South Bay Traders' Association's been reacting to plans for the new Flamingo Land Coast.

We've already told you about the artist's impression of what the attraction on the site of the former Futurist Theatre would look like and plans for what could go on the site.

They include a 60-metre High Shot Tower, rollercoaster and zip wire, as well as a food and drink - and a separate Winter Garden.

John Senior said:

"The south side has always been of an amusement arcade nature. I'm not saying that makes it okay, it doesn't and it does still need to be of the top quality design.

But it is going to be something that is going to attract a certain style or approach and that is Flamingo Land - and you have to appreciate that. We don't have to have it, it could be turned down.

Scarborough people don't have to have this, if they don't want it."

John's speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..

Its about time we got rid of most of the arcades and bring a new look & attractions to the south bay. Its like stale bread down there and starting to show, the tourist number decline says it all
