Scarborough Pub Offers Meditation to Beat Blue Monday

Published by Matthew Pells at 6:05am 20th January 2019.

Could Meditation in a pub be the solution to the January blues?

Tomorrow has been dubbed Blue Monday - the third Monday in January is recognised by the Samaritans as one of their busiest days of the year - as the dark weather and post Christmas blues make many of us feel a bit isolated.

The Samaritans run a nationwide Brew Monday campaign - encouraging us all to get out and meet up with friends for a cuppa.

In Scarborough the campaign is being supported by a local Pub. Jim Taylor is Landlord at the Indigo Alley he thinks pubs have an important role to play.....

The Indigo Alley event will include a session of Buddhist Meditation, Jim admits it's a bit of an odd thing for a pub to do but says it can have a real benefit for people...

The event takes place on Monday evening from 8pm.

  • 8pm-8.30pm: *free* pizza
  • 8.30pm-8.35pm: guided meditation 1
  • 8.40pm-8.55pm: yoga
  • 9pm-9.15pm: clubercise
  • 9.20pm-9.25pm: guided meditation 2
  • 9.30pm – late: board games and video games
