Naval Warfare Display In Scarborough Vandalised

Published by Karen Liu at 1:34pm 12th November 2018.

A Naval Warfare display on a Scarborough roundabout has been destroyed.

It is believed the vandalism happened some time over the weekend.

The boat used to sail on Peasholm Lake and is valued at £500.

Harry Briggs from Scarborough Borough Council, said:

"A large amount of the upper structure of the boat has been removed and smashed.

Our teams are now looking at whether it's possible to repair the damage, to keep it in situ, or whether the ship has been holed below the water line and we're going to have to look at removing that entirely.

If anyone saw any damage, it is on a busy road, so I'd be surprised if no-one saw anything.

People can report that in confidence to North Yorkshire Police on 101 and they'll take those details, and hopefully act on that information and try and bring the perpetrators to justice."
