Improvements To Scarborough Train Station Signage

Improvements To Scarborough Train Station Signage

Published by Karen Liu at 6:08am 19th October 2018.

Signage about parking at Scarborough's train station is to be improved.

It is after the disabled bays were taken away from the main car park and put only at the front.

Mike Drewery, Group Station Manager for TransPennine Express, said:

"We had to introduce Automatic Number Plate Recognition to the main car park.

That's great, it's a great piece of technology but it doesn't recognise if someone has a blue badge.

So the best thing for us to do was to take blue badge parking out of the main car park altogether.

We could potentially see the introduction of automatic ticket gates at Scarborough.

We felt that if that is delivered, and there are no firm decisions made on that currently, people that struggle to move around the station, would be better off at the front of the station.

There's been a little bit of uncertainty, and I've got to be honest the signage following the move, hasn't been what it could be.

I think there's probably still some scope to improve the signage, particularly in what was the short stay car park, to advise people that if they're dropping people off, or if they're just visiting the station to collect or purchase tickets, they can park for 30 minutes for free at the main car park on Westborough."
