Man Put Onto Stretcher At Fylingdales Moor

Fylingdales Moor

Published by Karen Liu at 10:36am 20th August 2018. (Updated at 10:37am 20th August 2018)

A male had to be put onto a stretcher after being unable to continue a walk at Fylingdales Moor.

Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team were called at 6pm yesterday (19th August) to one of their longest carry outs in recent years and lasted three and half hours from the initial call.

A party of walkers were attempting the Lyke Wake Walk when one of them, a 61 year old male, had suffered a re-occurrence of a pre-existing lower back condition and was unable to continue.

In failing light, fog and rain, 16 team members attended the incident and recovered the gentleman on a stretcher across Fylingdales Moor, down and up Jugger Howe Beck valley and to the road lay-by at Jugger Howe.
