Filey Library To Explore History Most Foul

Filey Library

Published by Karen Liu at 3:34pm 16th August 2018.

Filey library will explore history most foul with a presentation by Tim Tubbs called “An explosion in Kirk o’ fields, the unsolved murder of Mary Queen of Scot’s first husband Lord Darnley”.

Tim will guide the audience through murky goings on in 16th century Scotland where royalty and nobility would pursue any means to retain their grip on power or gain an advantage over a rival.

Scarborough-born Tim uses his background in music, literature training, the Sadler’s Wells Theatre, representing dance companies and artists, producing touring shows and managing large-scale events, to give a fascinating and highly entertaining guide to late medieval Scotland and this famous murder mystery involving the tragic and romantic Mary Queen of Scot’s.

To complement Tim’s talk, books on the tragedy and the period are available to borrow at Filey library.

Alternatively, those interested in the lives of Mary Queen of Scot’s and Lord Darnley, can find out more online using their library card to access the Dictionary of National Biography free on North Yorkshire libraries website, https://capitadiscovery.co.uk/northyorkshire/.

The presentation is at 6pm on 30th August at Filey library.

Tickets cost £2. To book, contact Filey library on 01609 536608 or at filey.library@northyorks.gov.uk.
