The Environment Agency's decision to reduce fishing licences has been delayed.

They have been worried about declining salmon stocks which is part of the reason why the Government are refusing to renew licences.

It means fishermen in Filey can fish for five months this year.

Filey Councillor Mike Cockerill said:

Hopefully, eventually the fishing minister will agree with us and say that there's no need for these new byelaws to be implemented at Filey particularly.

But that's up to the minister and will depend on the recommendations following the consultation."
