RNLI Speaks Up on Sacked Whitby Volunteers

Whitby Lifeboat

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 6:30am 3rd May 2018. (Updated at 1:38pm 3rd May 2018)

Whitby RNLI says it won't tolerate bullying, harrassment, or discrimination, after the sacking of two of its volunteers.

We told you how three more have resigned since the incident, which involved the alleged production of what it calls sexually inappropriate material.

The charity says it can't reveal more details, as the investigation isn't closed yet and the decision might be appealed.

The charity says despite the departure of the five crew, the Whitby Lifeboat is still fully operational.

Lifesaving Manager for the RNLI Darren Lewis has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke.

An online petition which was started to reinstate the volunteers has been taken down.

Please can anyone tell me why the online petition to reinstate the Whitby
