There has been severe fire damage to a shed in Whitby.

Crews from Whitby, Robins Hood Bay and Goathland attended the incident overnight at around 12.40am on Golden Grove (24th February).

The wooden lean-to shed which was approximately 2m by 5m contained contained a bio fuel boiler, pellets and logs.

This resulted in severe fire damage to the shed and contents as well as slight heat damage to a nearby vehicle.

Crews used a water lance, ceiling hooks, spades, buckets, lighting, hand tools and a thermal imaging camera.

The cause is believed to be a fault on the boiler which caused heat to radiate onto stored pellets and logs.

The incident remains open for a revisit by Whitby crew later today.
