Bus Services Withdrawn in Whitby

Bus Stop

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 7:27am 20th February 2018. (Updated at 7:30am 20th February 2018)

Three bus services in Whitby are going to stop running.

From the 24th of March, Coastal and Country will cease the Castle Park Circular, Stainsacre Circular and West Cliff Circular routes.

These are commercial services and are independent of North Yorkshire County Council.

In a statement, North Yorkshire county council said:

"We have been notified that bus operator Coastal and Country is to cease three Whitby town services from March 24th.  These are the Castle Park Circular; Stainsacre Circular and West Cliff Circular.  These are commercial services and are independent of the county council.

We anticipate that other commercial operators will step forward and pick up these services in due course.  Arriva is still running three services in and around the Whitby area – X4, 93 and 95 and these are unaffected by this change.

We are also aware that East Yorkshire Motor Services may be making some changes in future to their commercial routes in Scarborough."

Have heard that the No.15 bus from Scarborough to Cloughton is to be removed from service. The No.2 (Sandybed) and No.10 (Hospital) could be combined into one service.
