A Scarborough teenager has raised money for charity through the sale of her CD.

Helen Inasu, 16, has used her vocal talents to produce an album of classic songs from the musicals - ‘Remembering the Hits’ and has raised £500 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Helen was inspired to produce the CD after performing in local care homes for people affected by dementia and seeing the impact these favourite songs had on her audiences.

Hannah Riley, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in North Yorkshire, said:

“We are extremely grateful to Helen and her family for all of the time and energy they spent producing and selling this album.

Our local services such as Side by Side, Singing for the Brain and other activity groups help people with dementia to keep doing the things they love; for many people that is music, theatre and cinema and so it is particularly special that Helen has chosen to fundraise for us in this way.

We’re facing an incredible challenge: one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. We’re here to change that but we need more people like Helen to join us as we take on dementia together.”
