A new exhibit has been revealed at Sea Life Scarborough for 2018.

'Claws: Invasion' will open on March 30 and features over 20 species of crustacean, including the world's largest species, the Japanese Spider Crab.

Head of animal care, Lyndsey Crawford-Darwell said:

“The crustacean family really is the armoured division of the ocean which is what we’re exploring in this new exhibit.

The new creatures will be spread throughout the tanks from tiny reef lobsters to giant Japanese Spider Crabs.

People might think they know what a crab looks like but we have some really weird and wonderful creatures in this exhibition such as the brightly coloured Peacock Mantis shrimp which might look small and dainty but actually has one of the fastest punches of any marine animal!”

The exhibit will also feature an interactive trail for guests to follow with the chance to win different prizes.

Atlantis Ride Experience

Marketing Executive Corinne MacDonald added:

"We want our guests to totally immerse themselves in the world of this clawed army.

They’ll have the chance to see if they’re as fast as a ghost crab or how they would get on with a pair of claws instead of hands!

Once each guest has completed the trail they’ll get a scratch card and win one of three prizes.

The top prize is a family trip to LEGOLAND® Windsor which will be a fantastic prize for a few lucky people.”
