Beach Clean-Up In Filey

Filey WoW clean

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 7:00am 21st January 2018.

A beach clean-up is happening in Filey.

It is to protect marine wildlife as littering is one of the biggest threats to them.

It causes entanglement and ingestion as well as polluting the environment.

The free event is being held between 10am and 12pm on Sunday 21st January at the bottom of Martins Ravine junction near Royal Parade.

Ana Cowie, assistant at the Living Seas Centre tells us more:

She tells us what they find the most:

And what happens to the marine wildlife if they come across plastic:

She has this message:

It has been advised to wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather and bring work gloves if you have them.
