Bridlington MP's Views On Yorkshire Devolution

A Bridlington MP has given his thoughts on Yorkshire devolution.

It is after the topic was discussed in Parliament earlier in the week - with local council leaders from across Yorkshire to meet in York today to discuss their response.

It is hoped the devolution would mean better decisions made locally across the region and more money.

Sir Greg Knight gave his thoughts on the issue:

A devolution means devolving powers from Whitehall into the hands of the local people and businesses - with an elected Mayor would be in charge of these devolved regions.

Several regions across the country have reached a deal with Greater Manchester being the first.

The authority would have more power and say in issues like transport, housing and funding for police and health and social care.
