The Flamborough Fire Festival Team says last month’s festival, held on New Year’s Eve, was the biggest success ever raising over £8,000 and attracting over 5,000 visitors to the event.

The Festival’s volunteer team have agreed that, after taking out the costs of staging the event which amounts to approximately £3,500 per year, the balance will be invested into the 2018 event.

Also, donations will be given to the Festival’s adopted local community groups and charities which include: Flamborough Primary School, Flamborough Sports Club, St Oswald’s Church, Get Kids Going!, Flamborough Methodist Church, Flamborough Lifeboat and the Flamborough Fire Festival.

This year’s Fire Festival attracted over 5,000 visitors with donations given by visitors amounting to almost £4,000 at the entry points to the Arena alone. The Team is absolutely delighted with this amazing success.

Jane Emmerson, Festival Organiser said:

“What a magnificent success this year has been – it surpassed all our expectations!  Not only are we now able to invest for future years, but we are also able to give something back to our adopted local community groups and charities. That’s fantastic.  We didn’t expect this to happen so quickly.  It is wonderful to know that the Flamborough Fire Festival this year has been the most successful ever and is now one of the most popular events in Yorkshire being held on New Year’s Eve.

It is a credit to our wonderful team of volunteers who have worked extremely hard for three years to build up the event and they deserve all good wishes and thanks anyone could ever give them.

The Team have found that, year on year, the Festival is giving so much added value to the village and our research shows that the village community is benefitting in so many ways, both before, during and after the event, with increased demand for places to stay in the village and we now find this is also happening in towns and villages surrounding Flamborough. Also, local food and refreshment establishments, not just in the village but for miles around are also finding an increase in demand so the Festival is having an amazing ripple effect to other towns and villages within a least a 25 mile radius of Flamborough which is absolutely fantastic!”
