Conservatives Win Council By-Election In Whitby

The Conservatives have won yesterday's by-election to fill a vacancy for a borough councillor in Whitby's Mulgrave ward.

Their candidate Marion Watson topped the poll with 395 votes, and she replaces fellow Conservative Marie Harland who resigned earlier this year.

Labour came second, with an independent candidate third and the Yorkshire Party fourth.

The turnout was 31%.

The full result of the by-election is:

  • Marion Watson (Conservative Party) - 395 votes
  • Hugo Fearnley (Labour Party) - 299 votes
  • John Armsby (Independent) - 118 votes
  • Lee Derrick (Yorkshire Party) - 37 votes
