A Scarborough publican is marking the 40th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley today at his pub dedicated to the King.

Mark Witherington has put on an exhibition of memorabilia at The King and Cask on North Marine Road, which is open to the public all day.

There will be a talk this evening from someone who met Elvis in 1972, and they'll be calling Memphis live from the bar.

The exhibition includes one of Elvis' watches, autographs, cuff-links, a scarf and one of his jackets. Mark has also recently set up an official Scarborough fan club, which has gained recognition from Graceland.

Mark said:

"We contacted Graceland and applied to join the prestigious club. They made us wait for a little while, but we did get recognition, we got our email last week and we're now just one of 400 clubs worldwide to be on their database as an official Elvis Presley fan club.

Later on this evening we've got a guy coming in who's going to give us a talk on when he actually met Elvis, he saw him in concert in 1972.

We're going to be calling Memphis live from the bar, we've got a bit of Elvis music and it'll be a great atmosphere."
