Scarborough Borough Councillor Quits UKIP

Scarborough Town Hall

Published at 11:23am 12th July 2017 (Updated 12:30pm 12th July 2017)

Scarborough Borough Councillor Jonathan Dodds, who represents UKIP for the Eastfield ward, has quit the party.

Councillor Dodds will instead see out his time remaining as an independent councillor. He recently seconded a motion of 'No Confidence' in the Borough Council's Cabinet, which was proposed by then fellow UKIP Councillor Sam Cross.

That motion was defeated at a full council meeting last month.

Councillor Dodds was elected to represent Eastfield at Scarborough Borough Council for UKIP in May 2015 with 564 votes, along with Labour councillors Tony Randerson and John Warburton.

Councillor Dodds was approached for comment but said he was too busy to speak to us at present.
