Scarborough's RNLI won a bronze prize at the Charity Film Awards in London last night.
'A Night of Courage and Loss' documents the tragic night in February 2015, when Andrew McGeown died trying to rescue his dog from Scarborough's South Bay.
It describes the efforts of three crew on the inshore lifeboat who tried to save him in stormy conditions.
Andrew's sister, Donna Loveland, who's in the film, said:
"We made the film only a few months after we'd lost Andrew, so it was still very raw. It was a very, very difficult film to make and at first I had to make the decision whether or not I was going to do it. But then telling Andrew's story probably helps save other lives when people hear a real life story that's actually happened".
