Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 2:28pm 14th March 2017.

The Tour de Yorkshire trophies will head to Scarborough at the end of the month.

The pieces of silverwear will go on a tour of all six and start finishes for a day, visiting local schools and leisure centres as well as events in the host towns and cities.

It will come to Scarborough, which is hosting the end of the first stage, on Monday 27 March, with both the men's and women's trophies on show.

Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said:

“The trophy tour is always a hugely popular event in the run up to race weekend and this year it will be even more special with the addition of the women’s trophy.

Each host local authority is pulling together an exciting timetable of events so I hope communities will come out to see the trophy and build excitement for the race.”
