Weather Warning For Yorkshire Coast
11:06am 11th January 2017
(Updated 4:05pm 11th January 2017)
A yellow weather warning of snow has been put in place for the Yorkshire Coast for this Friday (13 January).
The warning means that it is likely the region will be hit by snow showers, sleet and hail. Two to four centimetres of snow is expected to fall in the lowland areas, whilst high ground may see 5 to ten centimetres.
Disruption to travel and transport networks is likely due to the snow or ice, with strong winds and large waves affecting the Yorkshire Coast.
Listen to what Mark Wilson from the Met Office had to say here:
There are already reports of a fallen tree in Scarborough, affecting Hay Lane in Scalby. Police were called to the incident at around 1pm this afternoon (11 January.)
The Highways Agency has been notified and will attend to deal with the tree to clear the road.
